Food For Thought Festival Haarlem

After the great success of various projects, Young & Fair, will organize a new festival based on the theme of fair food, named Food For Thought Festival. The goal of the festival is to generate awareness amongst young people on topics related to fair and sustainable food. The festival aims to convey both the positive aspects of fair and sustainable food, and the challenges consumers and producers currently face to consume and produce more sustainably. We believe that by addressing both sides of the fair food discussion, that the festival will encourage a safe and accessible environment for dialogue. The Food For Thought Festival is organized entirely by volunteers, and will be held in Haarlem in the summer of 2021. Would you also like to contribute to our goal? Then keep an eye on our website and follow us on social media for more information!

WHEN and WHERE?
The Festival is to be held in the Summer of 2021 (exact date T.B.D) at the Haarlemmer Kweektuin, an ecological city park offering nature, water, catering, businesses, education and recreation. The Haarlemer Kweektuin is a local, volunteer-led, non-profit working to transform the former Stadskweektuin into “the center for sustainability in Haarlem.”

THEME: WHERE DOES OUR FOOD COME FROM?
As the theme of fair food is an inherently broad concept, Young and Fair has decided that this year’s festivals specific sub-theme will be based around the “origins of food.” In addressing topics related to the origins of food, this year’s festival aims to generate awareness and encourage knowledge sharing of sustainability issues and solutions in global food value chains and sustainable food consumption practices.
